“Meaningful” is subjective. A lot of it depends on one’s personality type. With that in mind, there’s nothing more frustrating than trying to have what you think is a meaningful conversation with someone whose idea of “meaningful” is not yours.
An example would be if you like conversations about reality shows and what’s happening in one, and your counterpart starts talking about the deeper meaning of reality shows in our culture. It’s likely that both of you will not be engaged in the conversation much longer.
I read a book a while back called, “Vital Friends.” It’s worth a look. It sure helped me to understand my conversations and the people I was interacting with and why.
